Packers lose in hard fought battle 14 - 27

The flag football season got off to a rough start for the 9-11 yr old Packers on Tuesday night both figuratively and literally. On the first play of the game, the Redskins fooled the entire defense of the Packers with a reverse that went the length of the field and would have scored had Grant Tiarks not run the ball carrier down at the one yard line. The Redskins scored and converted the 2 point conversion for a 0-8 lead. The Packers first play from scrimmage resulted in an interception that had the Packers back on their heels. The Redskins punched another score across, PAT failed on a nice defensive play by TJ Deahl and the score was an early 0 - 14 deficit for the Packers. The offense went to work and Cole Ozbun scooted 44 yds. to the 1 yd. line. On the next play Wes Greder hit Hunter Beard with a one-yard pass for the Packers first points. PAT for one point on a pass from Greder to Beard again was good and the score was 7 - 14. The Redskins scored one more time before the break and again failed on the PAT on another play by TJ Deahl to stop it. Score 7-20 . The third quarter saw several nice passes and runs by the Packers but none resulted in points. The Packers found the end zone again in the fourth on a nice long throw by Taylor Hill and catch in the end zone by Grant Tiarks. They hooked up again for the PAT on a pass to the corner of the end zone. Score 14 - 20. The Redskins scored one more time and converted the PAT for a final score of 14 - 27. The Packers play again next Tuesday, Oct. 2nd at 7:00 on Field 3.
