2008 Baseball/Softball
Click on form to zoom in and print!
Baseball/Softball Registrations will be due on March 1, 2008. There will be a $10 late fee after March 8th. I have a scheduling meeting on March 10th so it is really important to get registered in time so we know how many will be playing. We will combine with Colo on teams where additional players are needed. Due to anticipated budget cuts we will not be giving out new hats/visors this year. You can reuse last years hat/visor or purchase a new one for an additional fee when uniforms are handed out.

4th Grade Girl's Basketball finishes 1-1 at CMB tourney!
The 4th grade girls rebounded after a tough first game ever loss to a great finish at the CMB tourney winning the second game 17-7. Game one saw some first game jitters as well as some girls getting used to playing together for the first time for the Royals. We had five girls come out for basketball this year and when one of the five had a family obligation arise we were left scrambling for players - step in Keeley Dodd, Madison Lundquist and Teri Perisho. These three girls agreed to help us out and only got one practice before the first game in Maxwell. All three did an exceptional job for us and by the second game we looked like we had been playing together all year. I am also proud of the original team members as they played very well and have shown great progress since the beginning of the year. We are attempting to get in another tournament for these girls and will have higher expectations going into the next one with some further practice time.
4th and 5th Grade Boys Bassketball
Well the tournament season is off to a rough start as the combined 4th and 5th grade boys team (due to lack of numbers) have participated in 2 tournaments to date. The Royals are 0-4 but are showing signs of improvement. Because of the mixed squad we are forced to play in the 5th grade realm at tournaments even though we have more 4th graders than 5th graders. Our youth and inexperience shows up in physical size and complexity of offensive schemes being run. We have been under-sized in every game we have played, facing kids on other teams that look like 6th graders or better at times compared to us. To this groups credit though they have never given up and continue to out-hustle most of their opponents. Because of our lack of size other squads tend to throw the ball over the top on us and their big guys (usually almost 6 to 12" taller than our tallest) have an easy time. We have led at half-time of 2 of the games but just have worn out in the second halves trying to defend the bigger kids. We have a couple weeks until our next tourney in Colo at which I'm sure the kids will continue to give it their all!
